The successful candidate will have an established track record of original research and a strong standing within the clinical community. They will have some evidence of managerial experience and will relish working in a dynamic team. 

The Vice-Secretary serves for two years in close collaboration with EASL’s Secretary General. After the completion of this two-year term, the Vice-Secretary will automatically become Secretary General for a further period of two years.  

Eligibility criteria 

• The candidate must be living in a European country, as defined by the World Health Organization.  
• To ensure geographical diversity, candidates employed in the United Kingdom, Germany, or Norway are excluded from this specific call.  
• The candidate must be under 56 years of age on 1 June 2021.  
• The candidate must be an EASL member when applying and would be expected to have been a long-standing member. 
• The candidate cannot have been a member of the EASL Scientific Committee within the last five years (since 1 June 2016).

The mission of the Educational Committee is to provide scientific expertise and support to the EASL Governing Board and EASL office in the development and monitoring of a high-quality portfolio of educational offerings. The Educational Committee’s role is to contribute to the continuous education and professional development of hepatologists and other specialists, general practitioners, clinical and basic scientists, nurses and allied health professionals, and patients.  

The Educational Committee members are responsible for coordinating the development of: 

• EASL Schools of Hepatology  
• EASL Post-graduate course (PGC) 
• EASL educational products and services  

Educational Committee members are expected to be able to attend monthly conference calls, and up to two face–to–face meetings per year, subject to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Term 

Educational Committee members’ terms are staggered, and serve for a period of three years.  

• Position one: April 2021 to March 2024 
• Position two: October 2021 to September 2024 
• Position three: January 2022 to December 2024

• EASL cooperation with patient associations working in the field of liver conditions

The mission of the Young Investigators Task Force is to contribute to educational activities aimed at Young Investigators in the wider liver community and to engage the next generation of liver disease experts. 

The Young Investigators Task Force advises the EASL Governing Board and the EASL Office on the following activities: 

• YIs Seminar, dealing with topics of interest for YIs that are not covered by other sessions at the International Liver Congress™. The scope of the Seminar is scientific.  
• YIs Forum, focusing on career aspects, the professional and personal life of YIs and boosting knowledge–sharing. 
• YIs Party, a social event that takes place on Thursday evening during the on-site International Liver Congress™, aiming to enhance networking between the YIs.   
• Communication/Newsletters: Members advise the EASL Office on communication actions for social media and newsletters sent to YIs twice a year. 
• When preparing the ILC, Schools, and masterclass programmes, the YI Task Force may be consulted for ideas, suggestions, and input.  

Term

Young Investigator Task Force members serve for a period of two years. The term for these two positions is from July 2021 to June 2023. 

Eligibility criteria 

• The candidate must be living in a European country, as defined by the World Health Organization.
• The candidate must be an EASL member when applying.  
• The candidate should be preferably under 35 years of age (may be extended to 40 years old) in June 2021 (and in the case of maternity leave, the eligibility age is calculated by deducting 18 months per child from the applicant’s actual age).  
• For one of the three new members, a particular attention will be paid to candidates with a strong background in viral hepatitis. 
• For one of the three new members, particular attention will be paid to candidates with a strong background in cirrhosis complications and liver transplantation. 
• For one of the three new members, particular attention will be paid to candidates with a strong background in cholestatic and autoimmune diseases. 
• For one of the three new members, particular attention will be paid to candidates with a strong background in basic science. 
• The task force already has members from Germany and Portugal. Candidates from other countries are especially encouraged to apply.

EASL YIs Task Force Application

Are you supporting and advancing care for people with liver disease through clinical excellence or research? Are you ready to shape the educational/research and clinical priorities of EASL’s Nurses and Allied Health Professionals Task Force?

Since it was founded in 2016, the Nurses and AHPs Task Force has grown from strength to strength. EASL is now calling for nominations for two new members for this Task Force. The term for these members is from the International Liver Congress (ILC) 2021 (end-June 2021) to ILC 2024.

Eligibility criteria 

• The candidate must be living in a European country, as defined by the World Health Organization .
• The candidate must be an EASL member when applying.
• Particular attention will be paid to male candidates to maintain gender balance in the Task Force, in accordance with the EASL equality, diversity, and inclusion policy statement.
• Particular attention will be paid to AHP candidates (as defined and listed by the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions).
• Candidates from the following countries will not be given priority this call, as they are already represented in the Task Force: Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom,

The call is open from 18 December 2020 to 15 March 2021
