Hackers and cyber scammers may send fake e-mail messages in an attempt to trick you into clicking on dangerous links or opening harmful attachments.
Engaging in these actions may cause you to disclose your username and password, which can then be exploited to steal money or sensitive information from you.
If you are contacted by someone or an entity that seems to represent EASL, make sure you confirm their authenticity before replying.
As a rule, EASL will never give out your account or password details to third parties without your express permission.
Phishing
Malicious e-mails and texts that falsely claim to be from EASL are known as phishing. These phishing attempts may involve the following tactics:
- Requesting sensitive information, such as account credentials and passwords
- Including malicious attachments
- Including malicious links that can lead to fraudulent websites
A phishing email attempts to replicate a communication from a trustworthy sender, such as your bank or credit card provider, or a well-known online merchant or social media site. The scam e-mails will either contain dangerous attachments designed to install malware (such as a virus or spyware) on your computer when opened, or links to fraudulent websites designed to deceive you into disclosing your password or other sensitive data.
When you receive an e-mail with a link or file that mentions EASL but does not originate from an official EASL e-mail address (ending with suffix @easloffice.eu) be extra vigilant. It could be fraudulent cyber activity.

Inaccurate information spreads rapidly, making it more difficult for the public to find verified facts and recommendations from reliable sources.
Nevertheless, everyone can play a role in curbing the spread of misinformation. If you come across content on the internet that you believe is false or misleading, you can report it to the social media platform that hosts it.
