The field of liver cancer is moving at an extraordinary pace — and the EASL Liver Cancer Summit is where the world comes to keep up.
The EASL Liver Cancer Summit returns in Valencia in January 2027, reuniting the international liver cancer community for an unmissable exchange of knowledge, experience, and ideas at the forefront of the field.
This meeting is built for everyone committed to advancing the understanding and management of liver tumours: hepatologists, oncologists, interventional radiologists, surgeons, pathologists, basic and translational scientists, nurses, allied healthcare professionals, and patient advocates. Across disciplines and across borders, we come together to address the questions that matter most — for science, for clinical practice, and for patients.
Advances in basic science and therapeutic innovation are fundamentally reshaping how we understand, diagnose, treat, and follow patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. The growing complexity of tumour biology, resistance mechanisms, treatment sequencing, and personalised medicine demands closer collaboration across specialties — and across the bench-to-bedside continuum — than ever before. Valencia 2027 is where that collaboration happens.
From cutting-edge discoveries in tumour biology and the microenvironment, to novel systemic therapies, locoregional approaches, and multidisciplinary decision-making — the Liver Cancer Summit will provide a unique forum to debate, reflect, and chart the course ahead.

Laura Crocetti
Italy
Laura Crocetti is an interventional radiologist at the University of Pisa and Pisa University Hospital, Italy.
Her clinical and research work focuses on image-guided minimally invasive treatments for liver tumours, particularly thermal ablation and intra-arterial therapies. She is active in interventional oncology and she is the Vice-President elect of CIRSE. She has extensive experience in advancing percutaneous treatment strategies for patients with primary and secondary liver cancer.
Tim Meyer
United Kingdom
Tim Meyer is Professor of Experimental Cancer Medicine at UCL and Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at the Royal Free and ULCH Hospitals.
He is Director of the NIHR Royal Fee London Clinical Research Facility. He specialises in the management of hepatocellular and leads a large portfolio of clinical trials. He is immediate past president of ILCA and is European representative on the NCI Hepatobiliary Taskforce. He has contributed to the most recent versions of ESMO and EASL guidelines for management of HCC.
Anna Saborowski
Germany
Anna Saborowski is a senior physician in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Hannover Medical School, Germany, and head of the Center for Personalized Medicine.
As a clinician scientist, she has longstanding expertise in hepatobiliary cancers and precision oncology, working at the interface between basic science and clinical practice. Her translational research focuses on the biology of hepatobiliary malignancies, aiming to better understand tumour development and improve therapeutic strategies for patients with liver cancer. She has extensive experience in conducting clinical trials, including investigator-initiated studies, and in implementing molecular diagnostics into routine care.
Matthias Pinter (EASL Governing Board representative)

Matthias Pinter works at the Medical University of Vienna, where he also received both his MD and PhD. He is board-certified for Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and Intensive Care Medicine.
He is leading the liver cancer program and research group at the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and is manager of the hepatobiliary tumor board at the Medical University of Vienna. Currently, he is also the head of the working group “Gastrointestinal Oncology” of the Austrian Society of Gastroenterology & Hepatology.
His main research interests include the systemic treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, particularly the identification of prognostic markers and score as well as the development of strategies to improve the efficacy of systemic therapies. To broaden his knowledge and expertise in basic research and experimental oncology, he worked as a research fellow and postdoc at renowned institutions, including the University of Bern in Switzerland and the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in the United States. He has published numerous original papers and review articles on liver cancer in prestigious peer-reviewed journals covering the categories Oncology, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and Radiology.
