EASL and Content With Purpose announce ambitious new series exploring The Future of Liver Health
EASL and Content With Purpose (CWP) have announced a new partnership to create The Future of Liver Health, an ambitious digital film series exploring how science, prevention, and innovation are transforming hepatology and shaping healthier futures across Europe and beyond.
Liver disease is one of the most pressing – and preventable – health challenges of our time. Yet millions of people worldwide are living with liver conditions that remain undiagnosed until advanced stages, when treatment options are more limited, costly, and complex. At the same time, rising rates of metabolic disease, alcohol-related harm, and liver cancer are placing increasing pressure on health systems and societies.
Against this backdrop, liver health is gaining unprecedented momentum. Scientific breakthroughs, policy developments, and public health initiatives are creating new opportunities to shift the focus from late-stage treatment to prevention, early detection, and long-term health. Evolving terminology and a deeper understanding of liver disease are also helping to reduce stigma, improve communication, and better align clinical and public perspectives.
Through cinematic storytelling, expert interviews, and short films, The Future of Liver Health will bring together a diverse range of organisations working across the liver health ecosystem – from universities, research institutes, hospitals, and specialist liver centres to diagnostics, biotechnology, public health, patient advocacy, and technology organisations.
Together, these perspectives will create a rich exploration of the challenges, innovations, and opportunities defining liver health today.
The series will spotlight the people, science, and systems transforming liver health. It will explore how advances in diagnostics, data, and technology are enabling earlier and more accurate detection; how research into areas such as the gut microbiome, rare liver diseases, and drug-induced liver injury is expanding understanding of liver health; and how innovation across care pathways – from prevention to transplantation – is improving outcomes for patients.
The series will preview at EASL Congress 2027 in London before launching globally online in July 2027, supported by a dedicated digital campaign designed to engage clinicians, researchers, policymakers, partners, and the wider public.
Ben Hainsworth, Executive Director of EASL, said:
“Liver disease is one of the defining health challenges of our time, yet it remains under-recognised and too often diagnosed late. Through The Future of Liver Health, we have an opportunity to showcase the remarkable advances taking place across hepatology, while fostering greater awareness of the importance of prevention, early detection, and specialist care. By combining scientific insight with powerful storytelling, we hope to engage new audiences, build greater understanding, and inspire action to improve liver health outcomes worldwide.”
Max Smith, Founder & Managing Director of CWP, said:
“Behind every breakthrough in liver health are people working to improve lives – researchers advancing knowledge, clinicians delivering care, innovators developing new solutions, and advocates driving change. Through this partnership with EASL, we look forward to telling their stories, celebrating progress, and helping more people understand the role prevention, early detection, and innovation can play in shaping healthier futures.”
Together, EASL and CWP will create a powerful storytelling platform that showcases the people, organisations, and innovations transforming liver health – connecting science with society and highlighting how collaboration, prevention, and innovation can improve outcomes worldwide.
