EASL is proud to announce that both of its journals have achieved outstanding new Impact Factors in the 2026 release of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) by Clarivate™, reflecting their continued scientific excellence and growing influence within the global hepatology community.

The Journal of Hepatology, EASL’s flagship publication, has reached a record-high Impact Factor of 40.1, further strengthening its position as the leading journal in hepatology. This milestone underscores the journal’s sustained impact, international reach, and unwavering commitment to publishing transformative research that advances the understanding and treatment of liver diseases.

Editor-in-Chief Prof. Vlad Ratziu remarked:

We are delighted to see the Journal of Hepatology achieve its highest Impact Factor to date, a testament to the collective efforts of our authors, reviewers, associate editors and editorial team. This recognition reflects our shared commitment to publishing rigorous, innovative and clinically meaningful research that shapes the future of hepatology. We remain dedicated to delivering cutting-edge scientific discoveries while continuing to provide outstanding educational value to our readers worldwide.”

Meanwhile, JHEP Reports, EASL’s open-access journal, has achieved an Impact Factor of 8.7, as well as being indexed on MEDLINE, further consolidating its position among the leading journals in the field. This achievement highlights the journal’s growing visibility, its commitment to accessible high-quality science and its increasing contribution to advancing liver research globally.

Editor-in-Chief Prof. Josep M. Llovet commented:

An Impact Factor of 8.7 reinforces JHEP Reports’ position among the leading journals in hepatology, reflecting the quality and relevance of our published research. This achievement coincides with a 15% increase in published articles and another key milestone: JHEP Reports is now indexed in MEDLINE, a recognition of the journal’s editorial rigour and robust peer-review standards, further enhancing the discoverability of our content worldwide.”

EASL extends its sincere thanks to the editorial boards, dedicated peer reviewers, authors and the global research community whose expertise, commitment and support have been instrumental to the continued success of both journals.
