EASL supports #RareDiseaseDay 2018
Rare Disease Day takes place on the last day of February each year. The main objective of Rare Disease Day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients’ lives. Liver disease encompasses a variety of rare conditions including haemochromatosis, Wilson’s disease, Budd Chiari syndrome, cystic liver diseases, Gilbert’s Syndrome.
In 2009, the EU adopted a comprehensive strategy on rare diseases with the Council Recommendation on rare diseases. EASL contributed to the shaping of this EU strategy thanks to its response to the EU’s public consultation on rare diseases.
